Knoydart is a stunningly beautiful place in the North West of Scotland,
commonly refered to as "the last wilderness" Readily accessible by boat
but there is NO ROAD ACCESS.
It is an area of secluded sandy
beaches, spectacular mountain scenery, limitless low level walks and
abundant wildlife. Knoydart Lodge offers a taxi service which opens up many possibilities especially to our older or less fit guests.
It is home to a thriving community with a vibrant 'music scene'. Music of some kind will usually be found in The Old Forge
(Britains most remote mainland pub) So , my guests, if you play an
instrument please bring it with you (or ask as we may have one for you
to use)
The community hall run a program of celidhs, concerts
and events throughout the year , and all things Scottish are
celebrated. Burns night, Hogmany and... the highlight of the year The
Knoydart Games, (highland games as never witnessed before). Knoydart
Lodge is open all year round (except Jan/Feb), and it is advisable to
book well in advance for any of the above.
Knoydart is a
'Community Buy Out' ie the land is owned and managed by the people who
live here. Prior to this the Knoydart peninsula had a varied and
turbulent history. Evidence of this is all around. When out walking you
can discover the most unexpected evidence of the past.
To add
to the enjoyment of your holiday take advantage of our superb ranger
sevice, with regular guided walks and by arrangement take part in a
photostalking expedition. For Further details of the ranger service
